I Was Reminded Today of Our Mortality
ByMy mother’s best friend, Aracelli, was buried yesterday. She was at least 10 years younger than my mother, but I always remember her being overweight. She died in her sleep of a heart attack.
Here’s the thing, although she died just this past week, really, she died many, many years before. This is what I mean.
Aracelli was always a very pleasant woman, with a quick laugh, and a big smile, and boy did she love her food. Even as a teenager I remember Aracelli always shuffling to get around. Never active, and very overweight, each step a struggle. My mother would always complain (in a nice way) she didn’t like to go places with Aracelli because she walked so slowly.
My point in bringing Aracelli up is that most of us “go out” like Aracellie does. Decades long declines, suffering with pain, both physical and emotional (can’t do things with the family anymore because I can’t get around well). In fact, dying, because they’re certainly not living life to the fullest, years and sometimes decades before they actually pass.
Is this the way you want to go?
Well, if you’re not eating the right foods CONSISTENTLY, and exercising CONSISTENTLY, then YOU are on the same path as Aracelli.
Here’s the real deal…
It’s really, REALLY hard to reverse damage once damage is done. Years of inactivity and bad eating that puts you in a chronically unhealthy state will NOT be magically reversed if you start eating right and exercising (if you even can). It’s almost impossible to turn back the clock on your aged state.
However, it IS possible to “retard” the aging process by doing those things that will prevent disease, decay, and oxidation in your body.
And it simply begins EACH DAY with the choices you make. It’s a simple, but insidious thing “time and choice”… Time spent doing the right things each day will allow you to live not necessarily a longer life, but a much more vigorous, active, productive, happier, and fulfilling life. Ignoring time and doing whatever it is you want to do and eat, with no regard to the ramifications, are, each day, adding to the quicker destruction of your body. And the “choices” you make with your time will 100% affect the outcome of your life, both good and bad.
Scott, who is in my coaching program, had this to say…
“I have benefited greatly and I just keep getting healthier. This is the best I’ve felt in years and I have that positive outlook on life from the help of the Body Maps you supplied. Your personal help keeps me on my toes and I do not want to let you down.”
Look at Scott’s photos”

Here’s what I recommend you do right now. Stop making the wrong choices and START making the right ones. Do the very best you can while you’re here on this earth, and you will be rewarded.

The body somehow conspires to support us when we start making positive changes. it is like our cells start doing a happy dance when they are fed, hydrated and worked in a healthy way. Thanks for the reminder! ;+)Rena

Rena,
I can’t even begin to tell you how much I agree with you. Quick story… my mom suffers from two very insidious diseases… type II diabetes, and Alzheimers.
I can tell a HUGE difference in my mom simply from the foods she eats. 2 days I came home and saw a half-empty bag of Hershey’s kisses just sitting there in the refrigerator. For a diabetic this is the literal kiss of death! Well, ever since her body’s cells have conspired AGAINST HER. She’s really depressed, doesn’t want to get out of bed, has a sour look on her face. She doesn’t normally act this way.
Foods can harm or help us.
Thanks for the comment!

I would absolutely LOVE to learn a better way to eat and live for myself and my family. I am thirty years old and 13 years ago I suffered avery bad car accident that injured my legs and left me in a wheel chair for a year.Since then , primarily due to my decreased mobility I have gained a tremendous amount of weight.Unfortunately , I ‘m sure your program costs money I donot have. I am disabled from the accident, It causes too much pain for me to walk or stand for long at all. Thanks anyway , I guess, I just can’t afford anything.

I’ll tell you something. My wife is just like your friend. She laughs alot, but doesn’t move. And eat! Well, I’ll leave that to you. Food is her best friend, besides me. I can’t take it anymore. I don’t eeven want to be seen with her anymore. I have an old picture of her when she was thin. I am worried these days. We have been together for 20 years, and she has never looked so bad. Help!

Bill, this is a tough issue. The problem lies with the person. If they don’t want to change, there’s certainly nothing you can do to make them change. Berating them will make it worse, giving them disgusted looks no better. A heart to heart talk telling her how you really feel, but with all the love and honesty you can muster, is the only way to get her to open up. Tell her you’re worried about her health, ask her if you can help her with information, ask her point blank why she overeats so much. If you get candid with her, maybe she will with you. I’m not saying this is the answer, but living your life is certainly not either.

Tracey,
Look for the post entitled “Nirvana meal for weight loss”. This won’t cost you anything but a little time to search for it. Yes, you’re in a wheelchair, yes you’re handicapped, but the actions you CAN take, which are many, can help you get in shape. Look for that post, eat that way the majority of the time, and you will get in much better shape, guaranteed…. on the house!
